Kind of sort of FFS Friday but not…

Ah, technology strikes again. My beloved mobile phone seems to have packed it in and is giving me nothing but that scary little android man asking me to reset, reboot, reformat, and even then won’t actually do any of those things. Lucky for me this is the second time this year a phone has died on me as well as my computer hard drive so I have almost everything backed up. {Yeah, real lucky.} But in the meantime I am using hubby’s old phone {handy that he upgraded to a swish new iPhone last week: JEALOUS}. But this son-of-a-bitch has THE MOST sensitive touch screen. What this translates to is that instead of being able to scroll I CLICK ON EVERYTHING. Imagine how much scrolling you do on a phone. Now imagine clicking on EVERY GODDAMN THING POSSIBLE. It also has the shittest battery life I have ever seen.

FFS.

*deep breaths*

On the upside I found a bunch of photos he took in Paris last year that I had barely seen. So that was a nice surprise.

Little Miss Lola has made herself very much part of the house. She is a super snuggler, and small enough to curl up on any lap, even Mr Five’s. She is also getting the hang of posing for photos {see exhibit A below}. The only downside is constantly sifting through kitty litter. Kind of reminds me of a grade five excursion to the goldfields and panning for gold, except I am in fact panning for chunks of, well, definitely not gold. Also feels a lot like diaper duty.

Not that I’m complaining, I am seriously in love with the little fur ball.

{Why did no-one ever tell me how smelly a cats fart is by the way?}

I was excited to see on Facebook that one of my favorite artists, Amaya Laucirica, is heading out on one final tour before relocating overseas for a while. Until I saw the date. Her only Sydney show is on the same night as my 40th birthday bash.

FFS.

So I’ll be playing her music instead, and like Amaya said, I’ll be there in spirit. And seriously, how awesome are the artists who take the time to respond to your comments on social media.

No FFS.

{And speaking of which, I’m still waiting for an answer to my tweet Evan Dando. What say you?}

As for the music at my birthday, I currently have an awesome playlist. {Two lists actually, one chilled out background one, and the dance-y let’s-party one. Yes, I’m a bit OCD}.

Said playlist is also fourteen hours long.

It dawned on me recently that my love of cooking and trying new recipes may have created a rod for my own back. Back in the day I had a much smaller, and simpler, repertoire of foods I cooked regularly. Everyone knew what to expect, and the favourites were repeated at least once a week. Now I feel the pressure to keep coming up with something new and varied almost every night. No repeats allowed.

FFS.

Not that I have anyone to blame but myself.

And not that I really mind most of the time.

I’m also looking forward to the end of winter. All this hearty warming food has played havoc with my waistline. Also not helped by me struggling to find time for the gym. The thought of salads, seafood, and sushi sounds perfect.

More champagne, less Bordeaux.

No FFS.

And how the hell is it September in three more days?

Til next time.

  1. I laughed really hard at the “fourteen hours long” & it’s an excellent mix I’ll steal parts of so thanks for that. Best wishes for the upcoming party & your kitty is so adorable. I thought that pink collar was a weird little tongue sticking out for a second.

    1. Lol. She is adorable isn’t she. The party is still a whole month away and God knows I have more important things to worry about…

      1. She’s very sweet! As always this bday party stuff may be inspiring a post for me. And then that makes me wonder “how often do you write a post because you read one on somebody else’s blog when it wasn’t intended as a writing prompt” so thanks.

        Did you by any chance order that signed Smudge vinyl?

        1. I always get ideas from other posts. And no to the vinyl. You?

  3. I just got my first “smart” phone and the frustrations are numerous…I can totally relate to your feelings on that one. It is such a hard transition to make…am not sure I’m ever going to adapt. As for your 14-hour-long playlist…perhaps you just know that your party will be smashing success and last much longer than planned?

    1. The play list is going to be very ruthlessly culled. Very ruthlessly. Not sure I want the party to last that long…
