#frocktober2014 days 17, 18, & 19

So I took the weekend off, and then some. We’re nearing the home stretch for this year’s Frocktober fund raising challenge and I’m tired. Tired of begging for donations, tired of taking shamelessly posed full length photos every day and tired of seeing my Instagram account full of nothing but those photos. Help a girl out and throw me a donation, it doesn’t have to be a lot. I am SO close to my target and I have everything crossed I will make it over the line by the end of the month.

Day 17 dawned quite cool {again} so I reached for this very old and very comfy batwing frock from Sussan. I have a feeling I bought this when I was pregnant with my last child and it’s very adaptable. Tights were a must, and I will confess that when I realised I didn’t have to leave the house any more that day I got jeans on quick smart. I’ve been wondering about the “rules” for Frocktober, and I realised that surely we can wear other clothes too? Like, what about going to the gym? Not that I have been, but you get my point. I have left the house in a frock every single day though, and have only changed into warmer clothes three times. So I think I’m doing okay on that front.

Day 18 gave me a chance to get a bit more dolled up for my niece’s birthday party. I chose this knit dress from the recent Missoni for Target collection. The problem with this dress is that it’s unforgiving as it is kind of clingy, so that means gutbuster girdles and no birthday cake. Oh, and knits catch on things. But overall I really love this dress.

For day 19 I wore this striped number from Big W’s Emerson range.

One thing I have realised doing Frocktober is that I have a lot of cheap dresses. Which I guess I already knew, {der, I bought them}, but it has been kind of fun putting outfits together and noting how little it costs to look and feel nice. That said, there are a few fancy frocks and I’m not sure what I’m saving them for, maybe finish with a splash and wear them in the last few days?

One of my absolute favourite fellow frockers is Potty Mouth Mama, that girl is rocking the frocks like nobody’s business. She has raised an insane amount of money and dresses up in a variety of costumes complete with wigs and accessories, then stays like that all day. You can check her out on Instagram or on her self titled blog.

The bridal bash is scheduled for two days time but remember the wedding dress will not be making an appearance without donations. I feel kind of sorry for the two friends who have agreed to join me for morning tea dressed as my bridesmaids because I think they thought they wouldn’t be the only two there.

Did I mention I’m a bit grumpy this week?

Til next time.

  1. Ha ha here’s to being tired and grumpy and NOT apologising for it! You’re doing so well and isn’t October one of the longest months EVER? x

  2. Oh no! I thought someone had promised you the donation for the wedding dress?
Beg all you want, you’re raising money for charity=)!
Did you come up with the term “bat wing” frock or is that the actual style because that made me laugh super hard. I like the dress too.

    1. I’m happy to report that one of the promised donations has been made so it’s on! And no, I didn’t come up with the term, I remember seeing that as a kid in the 80s. The pose is, however, all mine.

      1. Yes-good news!
& it’s an excellent pose to be done!
I wonder if that’s what they call the Morticia Adams’ dress, her sleeves kind of had the bat wing look going on. I shall google bat wing dresses.
