Sunday sessions, soundtrack to my life: BLONDIE

It’s one of my earliest memories.

This blonde creature, looking cool in ways five year old me couldn’t even begin to fathom let alone explain. I didn’t know who she was or what she did, but images like this were some of the first to get an impression on me, and was probably my first crush:

I thought that all women were supposed to look like this.

Many years later I delved into the music of Blondie, and became an instant fan. I can’t even remember NOT knowing Heart Of Glass, and to this day they are a force to be reckoned with. Even my hero Adalita was starstruck when she opened for Blondie on a joint tour with The Pretenders and bumped into Ms Harry while queuing for food.

The band, and the woman, are the coolest of music legends.

I STILL have a crush on Debbie, and the music is still among my favourite. Today I’ve chosen an instantly recognisable classic. Enjoy. x.

  1. One of the cooler bands I grew up hearing thanks to my mother. Last summer I gave my parents tickets to see them. I didn’t go which seems hugely stupid of me. Debbie has always come across as authentic to me. She’s incredible!

    1. Yeah she seems so authentic, even though a lot of people still think they were a one hit disco band.

      1. Those people are idiots. She, and Blondie, are legendary.😁
