OOTD :: cheer me up buttercup

Squeezing a month of scorching hot summer into the middle of winter is great until you have to come back to cooler temperatures. And then Sydney can’t seem to get it’s act together and start acting like it’s spring, so it’s been unseasonably cool and what I really need in my life right now is some goddamn sunshine.

Thank goodness then, for the bright colours in my wardrobe. Add a bright lip, a cute accessory, or a leopard print headband {swoon} and my mood can go from blah to fab in an instant.

Although with the hormonal swings I’ll likely be a sobbing mess at some point anyway.

September looked something this…

Little Party Dress is one of my all time fave online shops, and this cute oversized smock dress called Charlotte is super comfy to wear and does double duty for both warmer weather, or for cooler days like this one.

As soon as I saw this polka dot pleat midi skirt in Kmart I didn’t hesitate, and it’s been put to good use already, especially for work. Magenta jumper from Big W, and mustard blouse from Decjuba

I swore off buying new stuff but while we were in Croatia I made myself buy something because that’s just something I always do, and I’m so glad I did. This very retro style shirt dress is from Mango, is paired with a belt from Asos, and finished with simple black pumps from somewhere cheap {can’t remember where}.

There was this tan polka dot dress from Sportsgirl along with some actual sunshine…

…this pretty old favourite from Leona Edmiston {whose dresses I am LOVING lately} was perfect for the last day of term…

And then on the cusp of October I was back in long sleeves ffs. Leather look leggings from Decjuba, but the top I can’t remember, and the cheap and cheerful rope of pearls are from Big W.

Now if October could just bring some sustained sunshine that would be awesome…

  2. Your outfits are adorable! I have a polka dot skirt really similar to the one you own and I might just have to pair it with a big jumper like that, it looks sooo cosy! Great post ❤

    1. Thank you so much! I love loose skirts paired with knits, front loosely tucked in and the back untucked. Thanks for stopping by! X.
